Business Support Apprentice @ Pleckgate High School

We are pleased to partner with Pleckgate High School and offer this fantastic opportunity for a Customer Service/Admin Apprentice.
JOB PURPOSE:
The Administration Assistant is the first point of call for visitors to the school (parents, staff and pupils). As the primary representative of our school, the ideal candidate will possess a welcoming demeanour, be personable, helpful, and capable of projecting a professional and friendly image.
The successful candidate must demonstrate strong organizational skills, ability to multitask effectively, flexibility in work approach, and maintain a proactive ‘can-do’ attitude towards their responsibilities as no two days are the same.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
  • Meet and greet visitors to the school and manage visitor sign in and issuing of lanyards according to safeguarding requirements
  • Monitoring and managing delivery/visitor access to school premises via the barrier(s) using the outdoor monitor
  • To support the Admin Team with telephone calls, transferring callers to relevant staff and taking and passing on messages as required
  • To provide clerical and administrative support in relation to the production of specific materials, eg school newsletter, school prospectus etc.
  • To prepare and/or draft correspondence, communications, presentations and other documents for the school as required
  • To support the administration of health and safety documentation.
  • To carry out a range of administrative tasks, including photocopying, filing etc.
  • To manage electronic and paper based filing systems, reviewing operating practices and implementing improvements where necessary
  • Produce lists/information/data as required, eg students’ data
  • To filter incoming/outgoing mail: sorting, redirecting, and acting as appropriate
  • Maintain manual and computerised records/management information systems
  • Undertake word-processing, spreadsheets and other IT tasks
  • Liaise with parents/staff etc around attendance, sickness of pupils
  • To assist in exam invigilation as and when required
  • To work as part of a team and support the role of others at all times contributing to the overall work and ethos of the school
  • To undertake personal development through training and other learning activities including performance management, as required
  • Signpost staff, pupils and others in order to receive general advice and guidance
  • Be aware of and comply with policies and procedures relating to child protection, health, safety and security, confidentiality and data protection, reporting all concerns to an appropriate person
  • Set high expectations of conduct, whilst acting as a good role model for others.
Desired skills and personal qualities
    • Experience of working in a team
    • Organised approach to work in relation to file and record keeping
    • Experience of working with MS Office packages including Word, Excel, PowerPoint
    • Able to produce written communications which are readily understood
    • Good communication and numeracy skills.
Qualifications
  • GCSE's including Maths, English and ICT, Grade 4/C or above.
