Overview
This Level 3 UAL Extended Diploma in Art & Design aims to provide a firm foundation in core art & design practice, and to encourage personal development and expression. The course will help you find out what you enjoy, what you are good at and allow you to develop a set of valuable skills for future study and work.

What will I study?
The course is made up of 9 units split between 2 years (3 units per year). Year 1 focuses on developing the necessary skills and knowledge to tackle more challenging and specific creative assignments in year two. You will be given a range of projects that challenge you to explore different areas of creative practice from core drawing skills (life drawing, visual studies) to solving 3D, textiles, photographic or graphic communication problems, supported by contextual studies throughout.

How will I be assessed?
In this qualification you will engage with study through project work. Development is progressive taking you through workshops, lectures and practical assignments at the beginning.
All assignments are pass or fail only until the end of year one. Year two will provide you with the chance to specialise.

What can I do next?
Many learners wish to complete this diverse, higher level course before they progress onto University or employment. Learners can also progress to Art & Design related degree courses at University Centre Blackburn College, or to a whole range of other art, design and media related degree courses at leading institutions in the United Kingdom. Some learners also progress directly to employment within the creative industries.
