Overview
The Level 2 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning has been designed to provide learners with an understanding of the knowledge and skills needed when working directly with children and young people in school or college environments.
It covers a wide range of areas including children and young people’s development, supporting children and young people’s positive behaviour and communication and professional relationships. It is aimed at learners working in roles that support pupils’ learning in primary, secondary or special schools, as well as colleges.

What will I study?
On this course you will study a range of units:
- Understand schools and colleges as organisations
- Understand children and young people's development
- Safeguarding children and young people
- Equality, diversity and inclusion in a learning environment for children and young people
- Maintain relationships with children and young people
- Support the health and safety of children and young people
- Support positive behaviour in a learning environment for children and young people
- Contribute to teamwork in a learning environment
- Understand children and young people’s play and leisure
- Promote an effective learning environment
- Provide displays in a learning environment
You will do a selection of these units to complete the course.

Entry Requirements
You will need 4 GCSEs at Grade 3 including English Language or Maths. A successful DBS check will also be required.

How will I be assessed?
You will be assessed by written tasks, activities and practical assessments. You will also be assessed whilst on a practical work placement.

What can I do next?
Upon completion of the Level 2 programme students have many options. You can progress onto the Level 3 T-Level Early Years (Early Years Educator) or look to go onto a Level 3 Apprenticeship within the sector.
Progressing to a Level 3 and on successful completion this will enhance your career opportunities and give you the option to go enrol onto a degree.
