Overview
This qualification introduces learners to childcare and education, as well as aspects of parenting and babysitting. It is designed to support progression to higher-level qualifications in childcare and education, which may lead to roles such as Early Years Practitioner in day nurseries, nursery schools, reception classes in primary schools, or as a pre-school worker.

What will I study?
On this course you will study a range of units:
- Understand schools and colleges as organisations
- Understand children and young people's development
- Safeguarding children and young people
- Equality, diversity and inclusion in a learning environment for children and young people
- Maintain relationships with children and young people
- Support the health and safety of children and young people
- Support positive behaviour in a learning environment for children and young people
- Contribute to teamwork in a learning environment
- Understand children and young people’s play and leisure
- Promote an effective learning environment
- Provide displays in a learning environment
You will do a selection of these units to complete the course.

Entry Requirements
You will need 4 GCSEs at Grade 3 including English Language or Maths. A successful DBS check will also be required.

How will I be assessed?
You will be assessed by written tasks, activities and practical assessments. You will also be assessed whilst on a practical work placement.

What can I do next?
Upon completion of the Level 2 programme students have many options. You can progress onto the Level 3 T-Level Early Years (Early Years Educator) or look to go onto a Level 3 Apprenticeship within the sector.
Progressing to a Level 3 and on successful completion this will enhance your career opportunities and give you the option to go enrol onto a degree.
