Overview
Level 3 engineering is a practical, theoretical & work-related qualification suitable for a wide range of students giving an introduction to different fields found within the engineering sector, in particular electronic and electrical disciplines.
The qualification provides an introduction to the practices and processes of engineering technologies. Covering knowledge, understanding and skills that are relevant to a variety of careers and study routes within the engineering industry and takes a hands-on approach to studying engineering which is supported by theoretical knowledge that underpins practical activities.
The qualification is the equivalent to 3 A-Levels and carries the same UCAS points allowing progression to university.

What will I study?
The Level 3 Extended Diploma is made up of a combination of core and specialist units of study across a 2 year programme. Core units all engineering students will study include:
- Engineering Principles
- Delivery of Engineering Processes Safely as a Team
- Engineering Product Design & Manufacture
- Applied Commercial & Quality Principles in Engineering
- Specialist Engineering Product
- Microcontroller Systems for Engineers
- Calculus to Solve Engineering Problems

How will I be assessed?
The course is assessed through a combination of externally set formal examinations and assessments, along with internal assessment methods.
Internal assessments on the course include practical and written assignments with some in class assessments.

What can I do next?
The course is an ideal preparation for either progression to a higher level of study in further education such as a HND or degree. Other progression routes include higher level apprenticeships or employment within the engineering sector.
